5 Useful Digital Marketing Tools

Tech Stack 101:

5 Useful Digital Marketing Tools

by Aimee Alleman, founder Hey Mae Mae

Marketing is hard, but with a little help from a good tech stack you can make marketing easier. In this post I am going to share 5 useful digital marketing tools you can benefit from when you have no team.

Tech Stacks for When Your Solo

Now, whether you're a solo entrepreneur or you're just starting out in business, it's really important to have a good tech stack behind you. Even if it's a tech stack that's virtually free. This tech stack is going to help you move up in business a whole lot quicker because it'll allow you to have more free time. That's just what tech does. Well, good tech anyway. I just want to preface that each one of these products or services is actually serving a specific need within your business.
Google Docs

Number 1: Google Docs

The first tool we're going to talk about is Google Docs. And you may be thinking, Whoa, wait. I mean, Google Docs? Really? Hello? But Google Docs is actually a great tool when you're first starting out or if you have no team. Why? One, it's free and it does the exact same things as the products that you have to pay for. Two, it's shareable. So if you have clients that you are sharing work with, you can just send them a link and then they can see what it is that you're working on and you can collaborate back and forth. This is really important to have a tool that you can collaborate with the people that you're working with outside of your business so that you're able to get them what they need or what they want faster.
Hemingway App

Number 2: Hemingway App

The next tool is the Hemingway app. The Hemingway app is great because it helps you keep your writing at a 6th grade level. Now, why do you want to do that? Because the 6th grade level is the recommended level that you should write at for advertising across the board. Now, the Hemingway app does two great things. It helps keep your writing conversational and it helps keep it uncomplicated, which are the two things you need to do when you are marketing to someone.
Canva

Number 3: Canva

You know what you're writing and now you know what you're going to use to help you write your copy, so now it's time to actually make an ad. The next tool is going to help you do that. And that tool is Canva. Canva is a great tool for making digital ads. It has some of the best design options out there of any tools on the market and the price of Canva is very affordable. It will allow you to do things like remove backgrounds, edit photos, and mirror image pictures, all things you used to only be able to do in expensive design programs. The software even offers drag and drop templates for those of us who are not so design centric.
Placeit by Envato

Number 4: Placeit by Envato

The next tool is Placeit by Envato. This is quite possibly one of my favorite tools that we're going to talk about today. It allows you to create slick looking video intros and outros with having any editing skills. It is a great tool to have in your back pocket. And again, it's affordable. You can do a month to month plan or you can pay as you go. Pay as you go means if you find an intro that you want to use for your video, you can just pay for it individually and then you have the rights to that video to use across your mediums.
SEMRush

Number 5: SEMRush

We've gone over four tools, and the fifth tool has to do with your SEO and SEM. This tool is called SEMRush. It is one of the most versatile SEO and SEM tools out there. From keyword research to competitive analysis to even social media management, this tool allows you to do it all from one platform. Now, it is not a remarkably cheap tool, so I'm going to put that out there. It's actually one of the most expensive tools we talked about today. Their cheapest plan is $119 at the time of writing this post and that plan doesn't include all of the features that we just outlined, so keep that in mind. Now, they do allow you to do a little bit of keyword research and market research for free every day. But you only get between five and ten queries that you can perform ad day for free. SEMRush also has classes that you can take for free that will teach you how to do SEO and SEM better. So it's quite a versatile website. If you are looking to level up your SEO or your SEM, this is definitely one that I would put in your tech stack
